What do we want? HIGH SPEED RAIL! When do we want it? NOW!
So it has been awhile since we have updated the ol’ brgg blog, but fear not dear readers, we have still been working hard. Its also summer vacation, and dealing with things like the LSAT, getting ready for a study abroad program, and of course afternoons on the terrace, have kept us from staying on top of the site. When school gets started again, expected to see close to daily updates with the goings on of Big Red Go Green. Anyways, as most of those who follow WISPIRG will know, we have been organizing with the other chapters in our state to coordinate a statewide tour of the propsed high speed rail line that could revolutionize the way Wisconsinites and others from the midwest travel. It would reduce global warming emmissions, increase state tourism, create thousands of jobs, and would actually serve to attract recent graduates of the great colleges we have in the state to stay here, rather than take the education that they invested in to places with better transit options like Chicago, Boston, DC etc… Basically – we rocked it. With media hits from Green Bay to Milwaukee to Madison to Portage to LaCrosse to the Dells, the WISPIRG High Speed Rail Tour 2009 was all over the place. Wanna read more?
